Cantina Italiana April 16, 2011

I have made 3 trips to Cantina Italiana over the last 3 weekends. It is located on Hanover St in the North End of Boston. Cantina Italiana.

And wow is it good. Delicious Food and amazing Sangria. I am not a big drinker but this sangria is a "last meal" for sure. Fruity and sweet, ice cold with a faint after taste of a decent red wine. It says you get 4 glasses in the pitcher but you get at least 8-10. If you think your dinner party will drink at least 3 glasses buy the pitcher, it is def worth it.

The bruschetta is a must have. (it is usually a special but if you ask they will make it)

The salad is refreshing and delicious. Awesome roasted walnuts and fresh gorgonzola cheese, with a balsamic vinaigrette that I could drink. lol.

Make sure to get the homemade pasta. Some dishes come with boxed pasta and you can really tell the difference. Even if a dish comes with boxed pasta they will gladly  substitute for the fresh pasta. Definitely ask....

Sometimes, especially on the weekend, there are long lines waiting out the door at most restaurants in the North End. Cantina is pretty big and the line moves fast. We were told a half hour wait and were seated within 20 mins. 5 of which we sat at the bar.

The food is relatively expensive but not for a night out on the town. All together we spent $150 for 4 people. Including tax and tip.

Cantina Italiana is a gem of the North End.
